Meet Chelsea from Little Fisher Farmhouse
Finding magic in the mundane through simple, wholesome food and family life in our sweet little farmhouse.
Hi there, I’m Chelsea Rose
I’m stoked you are here with me. This idea to create a place for all my thoughts, ideas, recipes and lifestyle came to me in the midst of having my babies. But it wasn’t the time for me to start then. I was in it. Fully and intentionally focused on my child bearing days, and what a gift it was. A joy and a privilege to focus all my energy and love on my pregnancies and births. I hope to share these stories with you someday soon as they are worth sharing.
BUT I can’t hold it in any longer. And what you can expect from me is that I show up here with new recipes, inspiration, encouragement and the beauty found in my everyday.
Being a Mama is my most important job
I sit in such a place of gratitude for the opportunity to Mother these babies, not because it all comes easy- because it doesn’t, not for anyone. It may seem that way on the internet sometimes, but Motherhood is a journey, and one to be shared. As the oldest sister it comes naturally for me to want to be there for you, on your journey! I think about myself eight years ago, looking at my first Son and feeling a fire ignite in me. A fire to harness health in his life. It awakened my heart to the idea that health is created in the fine balancing act of life, and this has become my mothering mantra. I think about my questions and concerns when I started on my journey as a wife and mother, and I know you have them too. I want to be the one to help answer those for you.
My hope is that I can paint a clear and concise picture for you. A picture that shows, that anybody can cook from scratch, anybody can intentionally parent their children and anybody can find the magic in the mundane. It’s a choice.
The life we lead and want to share with you is not an act of rebellion against modern society. Max and I feel nothing but gratitude for the opportunities and choices we get to make about life in this modern world. We homeschool our children not because we don’t trust the system but simply because we love to watch our boys grow, learn and thrive first hand, everyday. It’s magical. I just can’t get enough of them.
We thrive in the middle lane. Marching to the beat of our own drum while recognizing the importance of the community at large and actively engaging in it. If we waited to find friends that did everything the way we do it, we would have no friends. Not to mention, how boring? How homogenized? So, we found this happy little farmhouse right between the country and the burbs, on one acre. Surrounded by people who live their lives in all sorts of different ways. We cherish that about our neighbors. We love to grow our own food. But we rely more on our relationships with farmers in our area than we do on ourselves. In fact, they are some of our closest friends- we get together for tea or a pint or a game of darts. We collaborate with neighbors and help each other out. I want to create a space just like that right here with you. I want a community where I can learn from you, just as much as you learn from me. So, let’s be in it together.
Some interesting tidbits about us:
- I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago where I finished with a bachelor of arts degree in business communications and marketing. If I could do it all over, I would have never gone to college. I would have become an apprentice for the oldest seamstress lady I could find and mastered that skill. But I didn’t, so I work on my sewing project slowly, surely and no where close to perfect. And perhaps my degree will now help me to put better content on the internet.
- Between the two of us, Max and I have lived in 5 states. Big cities, the sticks, the suburbs, and now we’ve found our spot somewhere in between it all.
- When we were dating we lived on a converted school bus on a 14 acre organic farm, where I worked as a farmhand, farm to table catering and in a bakery, baking the most beautiful loaves of bread. You could say my love for baking bread was fueled by this experience.
- Max and I met, and less than two weeks later we lived together and were officially married 6 months after that. Although it felt like we were married the moment we met. We had a jazzy and fun wedding at the Mauch Chunk Opera House in Jim Thorpe, PA, at set break of Free Range Folk’s Spring Jam concert.
- Max is an arborist by trade but when I say there’s nothing he can’t do, I mean it. You will see lots of Max projects on this page. Just you wait!
- We lived in Salt Lake City where I was the operations manager for an award winning, full-service catering and event company.
- Max and I are certified to sell foraged mushrooms, as well as to teach people how to safely forage mushrooms. We spent a few years growing, wild foraging and selling mushrooms at the farmers markets in our area. If this is something you are interested in learning more about let me know!
- I am certified through Penn State extension as a Master Gardener.
Thank you for joining me!
ALL THE LOVE TO YOU,
Chelsea Rose
